Emma Bermingham stood as a proud representative of Warren Central School at Dubbo College Senior Campus as one of the recipients of the Victor Chang Awards on 22 November 2017.
The reward recognises excellence in Science and achievements by a Year 11 student. The celebration highlighted the partnership between the NSW Department of Education and the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
Emma was nominated by her teachers as a diligent and respectful student with an aspiring career in a Science related field. Emma anticipates a career in the fields of Psychology and Nursing.
She was accompanied by her mum Cheryl Bermingham and Mr Selween Chandra.
The event is gaining a wider recognition with representation from 28 students from other schools around the Central West Region.
The like-minded students were driven by motivation to learn, all had goals to strive for success and were passionate about Science.
The Victor Chang Award is in honour of Dr Victor Chang who was a Chinese-Australian cardiac surgeon and a pioneer of modern heart transplantation.
